Known as one of Chicago's "Top Doctors" and distinguished by his academic and professional reputation, Dr. Gilligan attracts patients internationally. He holds the prestigious position of Examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a featured lecturer and author of numerous articles. He also serves as an orthopaedic consultant to the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Gilligan joined Hinsdale Orthopaedics in 1970 and currently focuses on the evaluation and non-invasive treatment of orthopaedic conditions. Dr. Gilligan is an Associate Professor at respected academic institutions such as Northwestern University Medical School, Loyola University and George Washington University Medical School.

After completing medical school and an orthopaedic surgery residency at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Dr. Gilligan studied as a fellow at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital. He is an active member of several medical societies and associations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Clinical Orthopaedic Society.
