Dr. Irwin utilizes technologically advanced surgical techniques to treat his patients. He is committed to comprehensively treating each individual patient to meet their personal goals. He is one of a select few surgeons experienced in thin-wire external fixation for complex foot and ankle deformities and disorders. While completing a fellowship at the OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Institute, Dr. Irwin was involved in the treatment of multiple college and professional athletes with Dr. Bob Anderson (foot and ankle consultant to NFL teams).
Dr. Irwin joined Hinsdale Orthopaedics in September 2008. His clinical review articles have been published in numerous journals including Foot and Ankle Clinics. Dr. Irwin is repeatedly featured as a guest speaker at national and regional orthopaedic meetings. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. In 2006, Dr. Irwin traveled to Buga, Columbia to participate in a pediatric orthopaedic mission.
Dr. Irwin continues to be active in research and has won several awards including the Edward D. Henderson, M.D. Physician in Training Award in 2007 at the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association 25th Annual Meeting. His extensive experience as a lab instructor includes several Smith & Nephew courses.
