David Tan, MSHS, PA-C
Staff Physician Assistant for Dr. Burra
A board certified Physician Assistant (PA-C), David Tan is a graduate of the George Washington University, a National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) accredited program. He is licensed to practice as well as prescribe medication in the state of Illinois. He works directly with Dr. Burra in the operating room as well as clinical settings.
Born and raised in the Hinsdale area, David received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He went on to receive his Masters of Science in Health Sciences and PA training from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Prior to returning to the Chicago suburbs, he worked as a surgical PA-C in the Maryland suburbs of D.C. first-assisting on various orthopaedic cases including: sports medicine, total joint reconstruction, cervical & lumbar spine, hand & upper extremity and foot & ankle surgeries.
David has also served in the U.S. Army as a medic prior to becoming a PA. His time on active duty included one tour to Baghdad in service of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he earned the Combat Medical Badge for "performing medical duties while being actively engaged by the enemy."
