With an emphasis on preventative care and a conservative approach, Dr. Vargo explores many options and alternatives for her patients before recommending surgery. Her expertise includes the management of sports related foot and ankle injuries, rheumatoid arthritis and the challenging diabetic foot. Dr. Vargo is one of the only surgeons in the Chicago area to specialize in total ankle replacements. Dr. Vargo spent two decades of her life dancing with many well known dance troupes including Joffrey II Ballet in New York City. Accordingly, she brings a wealth of personal knowledge to the treatment of dance injuries.

Dr. Vargo joined Hinsdale Orthopaedics in 1995 and, as an Osteopathic physician, she continues to bring a unique perspective to the practice. Osteopathic physicians, like MDs, are fully qualified and licensed to perform surgery and prescribe medication. What often goes unrecognized is that osteopathic physicians have additional training in the musculoskeletal system with an emphasis on an integrative approach to the treatment and prevention of illness and injuries.

Dr. Vargo is an author and contributor to Irish Dance magazine and gives frequent lectures at area schools, dance studios and physical therapy facilities geared to young women athletes and dancers. Dr. Vargo is also a member of several professional societies, including the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
