Hinsdale Orthopaedics

History of Hinsdale Orthopaedics

Hinsdale Orthopaedics was founded in 1950 by Dr. Oran Baab. In 1947, after completing his service in the Army, Dr. Baab joined the Practice of Orthopaedics at Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Soon after, he moved his practice to Hinsdale, Illinois and, in September of 1950, became a member of the Medical Staff. It was then that he formed Hinsdale Orthopaedics. He was joined in practice a few years later by Dr. Argyle Bacon, who remained his associate until 1968. In 1963, a third member, Dr. Albert Bunta, joined Hinsdale Orthopaedics where he practiced as an associate for over thirty years.

When Hinsdale Orthopaedics was founded, the office was located on Garfield, two doors away from the present Union Church. In the early 1960's, the building burned down. Dr. Baab rebuilt his office building at Ogden and Monroe. The headquarters of Hinsdale Orthopaedics has remained there ever since. This multi-office building contained not only an orthopaedic office, but also pediatric, ophthalmology and psychiatric practices. Over the years, three additions have been done to the building. As business was on the rise, Hinsdale Orthopaedics required the other subspecialties to relocate so they could personally utilize the entire 20,000 square foot office building. In 1984, Dr. Baab retired from the Practice and in 1989 he passed away.

Since its origination, Hinsdale Orthopaedics has grown in both the size of its practice and in the number of surgeons. Today, all of the orthopaedic subspecialties are well represented within the practice. The organization has expanded to five offices in the Western and Southwestern Suburbs. Hinsdale Orthopaedics now consists of 23 physicians and a large number of Para-Medical personnel. The organization continues to be dedicated to the highest quality of Orthopaedic Care provided in the most caring manner.
